Sport shooter's licence
Provisional (VSSL) and final (SSL) licence: conditions and differences.
Provisional licence (VSSL)
- Minors from age 16 can also apply for a provisional licence, with written parental consent.
- The licence is valid for a maximum of 1 year.
- Valid for one category: revolver (A), pistol (B), smooth-bore long guns (C), rifled long guns (D), black powder arms (E).
- Firearms cannot be purchased with a provisional licence.
- You may apply for several provisional licences, for different categories, at the same time.
Final licence (SSL)
- Be affiliated with a federation through your club for at least 6 months.
- Demonstrate at least 12 valid shooting sessions, recorded in the sport shooter's booklet, spread over at least 6 months.
- Holders may buy certain firearms designed for sport shooting without prior authorisation. Many firearms (pistols, semi-automatics) still require a separate permit (model 4).
